Celebrating the art of metal, this is a Japanese twist on the iconic Linhardt Loop Ring. The simple shape alone makes for an interesting form, but this ring takes the design one step further by incorporating a pattern in the metal.
This metal is actually a combination of sterling silver, copper, shakudo, and shibuichi which has been carved to be reminiscent of an 80s textile pattern. It the result of a technique known as as "mokume gane" - which was originally seen in 17th-century Japan on sword fittings.
Mokume Gane features laminated mixed metals that are forged and then patterned into unique and one-of-a-kind objects, as no mokume pattern is ever the same.
