Celebrating the art of metal, this is a Japanese twist on the iconic Linhardt Loop Ring. The simple shape alone makes for an interesting form, but this ring takes the design one step further by incorporating an interesting metal combination not known to many.
It is called "shakudo" which is a molten combination of gold and copper (here 4% pure gold and 96% copper is used; with a matte finish). It has the ability to patina into a beautiful dark-purple color or it can also be left as in its original form. The hue is not quite yellow gold, not quite your typical copper - but rather a gorgeous color on to itself. Shakudo was historically used in Japan to decorate samurai words in the 17th century.
