I feel as if I have known Janessa for years – and realized that in fact, that is the case. She was a complete stranger to me when she walked into my East Village gallery back in maybe 2010-? and commissioned me for an engagement ring with her partner, Arthur. Janessa gave me so much freedom with the ring, and even accepted the first sketches with absolutely no changes. It was a designer’s dream! From there a great friendship grew, and it has been my pleasure to know this lovely couple through the years. Thank you, Janessa and Arthur, for allowing me to make bespoke pieces of jewelry to commemorate such a special connection and occasion. Congratulations to you both!

linhardt tempest series featured in vogue italia july issue

We love you, Vogue Italia! And we love you, Craig McDean! Thrilled to have our sculptural Tempest Series featured in the July Issue of Vogue Italia in the fashion shoot entitled “graphic & graphic” – modeled by Ronja Furrer, Ine Neefs, Josephine Le Tutour, Vanessa Moody and Josephine Van Delden. The Fashionography said it well: “A-lined dresses, color blocked coats and playful skirts that feel like a modern day update on the 60’s key prints are gracing the shapes of the spread’s newcomers. Hair stylist Orlando Pita and make-up artist Diane Kendal has fulfilled the minimalistic aesthetic with elegant slicked back hair along with big eyes and pale pouts. McDean’s choice of shooting Templer’s collection of heavily printed pieces in a graphic inspired environment, only enhanced his original vision, where the shape and its prints is all that matters.” Thank you, Vogue Italia, for pairing Linhardt jewelry in this gorgeous shoot!

spiralis haitian art exhibit at linhardt

On Friday May 30, Linhardt Design opened its doors to host a special evening that showcased Haitian art and artists. Linhardt teamed up with Dr. Gail Granowitz, who has done fabulous work by giving free medical help to communities in developing nations – which lead her to start a side venture that aids Haitian artists and their communities. The initiative is called Spiralis Ventures, which is “…founded on the deeply-held certainty that although there is misery and suffering in the world, there is also joy hope and beauty; that the opposite of war poverty and desperation is not peace and contentment but instead, creation productivity and power.”

Linhardt Design was proud to host a fabulous exhibit of paintings, ceremonial beaded flags, and sculptural relief which was served up with fabulous rum punch made lovingly by Jean Danielle, who flew in from Haiti. The night was filled with artists and friends from all over the world. Thank you to all who came out to show their support!

In April of 2008 when we were first setting up our new retail location in the East Village, a wonderful couple named Jaime and Stephane passed by and caught us in the middle of construction in our new space, which was fashioned with reclaimed wood. It was then that we learned Stephane is a maker, and works in all reclaimed materials. Eventually I wound up making Jaime’s engagement out of a repurposed family heirloom diamond paired with recycled gold – which lead to making their wedding rings, also with repurposed metals. During this time a wonderful friendship blossomed, and now they are both some of my favorite people in this world – because of their talent, immense love for one another, and incredibly sweet souls!

Since 2008, Stephane has founded his own company, Stephane Hubert Design, which includes a line of housewares made from repurposed materials, and also takes on custom commissioned work for special projects. He has created some gorgeous works for myself and for many people I know – everyone has been thrilled and in awe at his talent and eye for craftsmanship. This Saturday, April 19th from 12-7pm until Sunday April 27 we are featuring some wares from his line during an exclusive trunk show, with all items on sale, made locally right here in NYC, all one-of-a-kind!

While you are at Linhardt Design you can also see the gorgeous jewelry cases Stephane made when fashioning our new retail space. Hope to see you there this week! Linhardt Design, 211 Mott Street (btwn Prince and Spring) 917-338-7822 for more information. Photos by Christine Han.
