A while back a vegan friend of mine offered to cook dinner, and I was left wondering what dessert to bring? Lets face it, I'm a jeweler not a baker so I looked to all the great cupcake houses of New York City for some delicious treats - Magnolia, Billy's, Blue Ribbon... and realized all were not vegan-friendly. A quick net search brought me to Babycakes, all-natural, organic and delicious alternative. Their baked goods are free from the common allergens: wheat, gluten, dairy, casein and eggs. Needless to say I braced myself for a terrible evening of dessert only to be pleasantly surprised - no, FLOORED - at these delicious and healthy treats! Ever since then. Babycakes has been an absolute staple in my diet when I'm in the mood for something sweet - which is why I was even more pleasantly surprised to learn my latest engagement ring commission is for Babycakes founder Erin McKenna. Congratulations to Chris and Erin on your forthcoming wedding!
 

Congratulations to Mark and Tiffany who just got engaged today at the Linhardt Gallery! To make it even better, we completely surprised Tiffany, who I had met with a few weeks earlier for a wedding ring consultation. Little did she know that Mark was actually planning to surprise her with a custom Linhardt engagement ring, and I was only meant to pick her brain and get a feel for her taste in jewelry. Mark wound up going with a beautiful Emerald-cut dark green Colombian emerald that we set in a custom vintage-looking-yet-modern 18k rose gold setting...

 

 

Donning slicked back pony-tails and severe ensembles, models Anabela Belikova, Ella Petrushko and Simona Andrejic all exude elegance and refinement in Plateau 7. Published in Numéro #112 and photographed by Sebastian Kim, the daring spread features an intriguing mix of pieces from Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Viktor & Rolf. As for jewelry it is always an honor to be featured with the legendary Alexis Bittar - you can see his signature earrings and my signature Linhardt "Pebble" rings. Who said furniture couldn't inspire jewelry? Take a look at these gorgeous repurposed Adrian Pearsall chairs from the 1960s that I found when searching to furnish my new place. Definitely starts spinning the brain... hmmmm.

No I didn't design Molly Ringwald's jewelry for Oscar night 2010 but I admire whomever did! Being that I haven't owned a television in almost 15 years, it was way too much trouble to impose myself on unsuspecting friends at 11pm just to catch a glimpse of the jewelry. So I searched the net this am for comparable last-year-Oscar earrings-a-la-Angelina Jolie... and nothing! Same boring diamond bracelets (yawn!) until I saw Molly Ringwald's gorgeous artful jewelry! Wow. After searching and searching, I saw that my modern art hero Alexander Calder designed the jewelry... No wonder! I suppose if it was an unknown name Ms. Ringwald would have been further crucified, but really people... think outside of the diamond bracelet box! Thumbs up to my 80s lipstick princess. You've still got it sister!

There's some nice stuff happening in the window and beyond at the Armani store on 5th and 56th street in NYC... but the above Lady GaGa dress? Not so much. Worth checking out nonetheless... up until March 21.

 

This season I worked with Nary Manivong again as his exclusive accessories designer, although there was an unexpected addition - Ally Hilfiger. The socialite best known for her relationship to father Tommy Hilfiger gave an exciting futuristic twist to Nary's very classic cuts in black lace, 80s-inspired paint splattered-prints and solid shades of plum. The theme was long-limbed alien models in black lipstick with blue gloss (makeup by Kenvin Aucoin) adorned with long silver nails which went very well with the bold orbital silver jewelry. Tommy Hilfiger showed which was a nice addition to a fun evening. See more photos by clicking here:

I start the new year by paying hommage to one of my all-time favorite fashion icons Lady Miss Kier. I'm probably dating myself when I say this but Kier was not merely the vocalist for the group Deee-Lite but was the "Lady Gaga" of my time!!! I cannot tell you just how influential this woman was to me throughout the years, and how she continues to inspire my jewelry time and time again. This woman helped me discover Patricia Field and Emilio Pucci at 11yrs old - was also responsible for many decisions (some not so smart, such as cutting class to hang out on 8th street, dying my hair a Manic Panic red, and wearing faux-Pucci legging in my Junior High Yearbook...) I often wonder whatever happened to her and why she wasn't as well-received as Lady Gaga. Perhaps the world was not quite ready for her just yet, but she will always be an inspiration in my book. Here's to a groovy new year!

Sometimes the way it goes down is you never know where your jewelry is going to pop up. I know Alicia Keys had some of the work from my signature "Loop" collection but didn't know it was going to be used to to promote her new album The Element of Freedom. Today I received a phone call from my friend Jennifer who saw these posters at Sony and recognized my ring. Apparently this image is also used on the cover and main story of Billboard magazine this week. Fun! Looking forward to seeing where else this pops up!

 

 

Amber Rose will be sporting the Linhardt Pixel ring in crystal quartz with a sterling silver patch of green moss growing out the side in an upcoming photo shoot styled by Kanye West for Elle Magazine (actually styled by Wuori/Barrett but I guess the pieces were "narrowed down" by Kanye). Linhardt (literally) gets on the map for the October 2009 issue of Japanese Harper's Bazaar - featuring a beautiful section dedicated specifically to New York City's best shopping boutiques. Thank you so much for including us, your magazine is gorgeous and I am in love with the Japanese aesthetic! Pick the magazine up on newsstands worldwide in early October.

 

 

Nary Manivong announced that his Spring/Summer 2010 presentation featuring Linhardt jewelry would be broadcasted live from NYC on September 10th during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The show will feature behind-the-scene prep, interviews with guests and of course the presentation itself. The live broadcast will last two hours from 4-6pm at this link.

The music video is finally out! Alicia Keys paired up with Spanish songwriter and 14-time Latin Grammy award-winner Alejandro Sanz on a single called "Looking for Paradise. Alicia Keys will be featuring Linhardt original jewelry in her new music video which was shot at the end of this past summer right here in NYC. Click below for behind-the-scene stills on set! Super excited about my forthcoming collaboration with incredibly talented and super sweet fashion designer Nary Manivong. Nary is the essence of how the roughest journeys yield the most breathtakingly inspired results. The Laotian-American self-taught designer rose from a tumultuous upbringing to establish his clothing label. Nary is the subject of a new documentary called Dressed, which will screen the opening night of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NYC. Stay tuned for some video blogging about Linhardt jewelry in Nary's show.
