There are many metals that Linhardt works in for both custom and ready-made jewelry. All metals are recycled and can be made with various textures and polishes. Also available are traditional metalsmithing techniques such as Damascus Steel/Mokume Gane as well as custom patinas, and custom mixes of gold, such as “Champagne” and “Grey” golds. The following are examples of metals and their properties:

  • Yellow Gold - 10k or 14k
    • -subtle yellow color
    • -stronger than higher karat golds
    • -recommended for thin bands
  • Yellow Gold - 18k
    • -more yellow than 14k
    • -most traditional karat for gold
    • -recommended for thin bands
  • Yellow Gold - 22k
    • -more yellow than 18k
    • -stronger than higher karat golds
    • -not recommended for thin bands
  • Yellow Gold - 24k
    • -most yellow in color
    • -pure gold - not mixed
    • -not recommended for thin bands
  • “Green’” Gold - 18k
    • - gold with with green tint
    • - unique; unusual
    • - offsets colored stones nicely
  • White Gold - 14k or 18k
    • -traditional mix of white gold
    • -rhodium maintenance required
    • -not for Nickel allergic
  • “Grey Gold” - 18k
    • -more “grey” than white gold
    • -no rhodium plating needed
    • -recommended for the Nickel-allergic
  • “Champagne” Gold - 18k
    • -subtle champagne color
    • -developed for champagne diamonds
    • -color in btwn rose and yellow gold
  • Rose Gold - 14k
    • -subtle pink color
    • -vintage-looking; unusual
    • -recommended for thin bands
  • Rose Gold - 18k
    • -subtle pink color
